Here are a a few cool events coming up in March:

The 2013 Easter Show

28th March-1st April

The 2013 Easter show is set to be bigger and better than ever with a A&P Show (Farm animals), market place, art show, new rides including a huge Ghost Train and giant Euro slide, “Hollywood Horrors” (live performers, special effects), fireworks, concerts by Dane Rumble and Titanium, and a Circus.

The Easter Show is held 8kms from Auckland CBD at the ASB Showgrounds.

Tickets are available for purchase online now, with no booking fees, no delivery charges and free parking.

The New Zealand Beer Festival

On Saturday 23rd of March The New Zealand Beer Festival will be held in The Cloud, Auckland, from 12.30pm-9pm.

Tickets are $29 for Earlybird, $39 General Admission, $49 Door Sales. If you buy online now there are no booking fees. https://www.beerfestival.co.nz

INTERNeX New Zealand: Auckland Lantern Festival

This weekend the 14th annual lantern festival will be held in Albert Park in Auckland City, celebrating the new year of the snake. There will be dozens of Asian food stalls, space for picnics on the grass and, of course, hundreds of beautiful Chinese lanterns.

Entertainment from the Omnipotent Youth Society rock band from Beijing, acrobats from Shanghai and a classical music group from Chengdu.

This event is running from the 22nd to the 24th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday night)

INTERNeX New Zealand: Devonport Food and Wine Festival

This weekend the Devonport Food and Wine Festival will be held in Devonport from 11.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday 16th and 11.00am-6.00pm on Sunday 17th. There will be a huge selection of great kiwi food and wine as well as plenty of NZ musicians including Annabel Fay, Jamie McDell, Avalanche City and The Baxters.

Tickets are on sale now and can be pre-purchased through iTicket (www.iticket.co.nz) for $32 (Saturday) and $30 (Sunday).

INTERNeX New Zealand: Christmas in the Park

Coca Cola Christmas in the Park

The annual Coca Cola Christmas in the Park will be held on Satuday 8th December, 2012 at 7.30pm in the Auckland Domain. This is a wonderful showcase of New Zealand talent and a true Kiwi style Christmas celebration. Bring a picnic and sit and watch the show. Performers include Jamie McDell, Guy Sebastian,  Michael Murphy, Titanium, Ria, dance groups and many more. Its free to attend so if you are up in Auckland make sure you go and check it out!

INTERNeX New Zealand: Strawberry Festival

Mercy Hospice Auckland Strawberry Festival.

Head down to the Mercy Hospice Strawberry Festival in Auckland this Wednesday to celebrate the start of summer and of course strawberries! New season strawberries and delicious ice cream will be available for sale. Strawberry treats and Mercy Hospice Strawberry Angel Christmas Decorations will also be available for purchase.

New Zealand’s Masterchef’s Brett McGregor, Nadia Lim and Chelsea Winter will be at the festival this year along with several other famous faces from the New Zealand food scene.  There will also be live music from Holly Christina.

Where: QEII Square, Auckland CBD.

When: Wednesday 28th November 8am-4pm.

Free entry, treats various costs.

All funds raised on this day will be used to help Mercy Hospice Auckland provide free care to those with life-limiting illness and their families, in the Auckland community.

INTERNeX New Zealand: Waiheke Walking Festival.

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! This week the Waiheke Walking Festival is starting. It is spread over 9 days and there will be 40 free guided walks available. Waiheke Island is just a short ferry ride away from Auckland City (around 40 minutes) and is a beautiful location for walking. There are stunning beaches, great scenery and plenty of good places to eat including several vineyard restaurants. New to the festival this year are three walks on Rotohara, an area of private land that is unavailable other than during the festival.

When: Walks will be held on the following days, with more sessions available on the Waiheke Walking Festival website.

Saturday 27th October, 10.00am

Sunday 28th October, 10.00am

Monday 29th October, 10.00am,

Tuesday 30th October, 10.00am

All walks are free and booking is essential.

INTERNeX New Zealand: Diwali Festival

This weekend Auckland is celebrating Diwali festival- The Indian festival of lights. This will be a beautiful showcase of Indian culture with everything from food, dance, traditional clothing, street performances. There will be authentic Indian food stalls featuring the best of India’s cuisine including samosas, curry and roti.

Along with the food stalls there will also be 50 other stalls selling crafts, sweets and other items. There will also be mehndi artists who can paint your hands with intricate henna designs.

One of the showcase festival events is the Bollywood competition. All performances will be held in the Aotea Square.

Indian Community groups will lead a traditional procession from Britomart up to Aotea Square at the following times: 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm, 5.30pm.

Why not try out Cricket- India’s most loved sport. Games will be running daily from 12noon up until dusk on the Aotea Square Grass terrace.

Other exciting things include the Diwali Festival speaker series where several speakers will share their personal experiences of their times in India.

Entry is free.
